Bagua Caisson Ceiling
The ceiling above the main hall is made of Vietnamese cypress wood. It was built with traditional joints and does not use any iron nails. There are 168 dragons around the ceiling. You can also find elephants, horses, deer, lions, leopards, and tigers. These animals represent good luck and blessings. While working, the builders spoke Taiwanese with a Lukang accent. They used fun local sayings about the weather. Some words sounded like the names of the animals on the ceiling.
The ceiling has many open spaces and colorful LED lights. At night, visitors can look up and see the beautiful glass roof through the ceiling. In the daytime, you can enjoy the detailed wood carvings. At night, the lights create a magical view. The temple is beautiful both day and night.

Tianchi Pool

Tianchi Pool is not only beautiful. It also helps control the temperature and humidity inside the temple. Water from the pool turns into moisture in the air. The moisture catches tiny pieces of dust and brings them down into the pool. This helps keep the Glass Mazu Temple clean and bright.
※Faith
Traditional temples usually have an incense burner for the Jade Emperor in the courtyard. At the Glass Mazu Temple, it is replaced by a Taiji symbol carved from blue stone. It represents harmony between heaven, earth, yin, and yang.
It also carries people’s prayers and wishes to heaven.

Yushan Shrine
The shrine in the main hall is made from more than 1,400 pieces of glass. Each piece is 10 mm thick, and together they weigh about six tons.The glass is stacked to look like Yushan, the highest mountain in Taiwan. It shows the skill of Taiwan’s glass craftsmen.At sunrise and sunset, sunlight shines through the glass and creates beautiful colors and reflections.

Glass Bell and Drum Towers
The Glass Bell and Drum Towers were first shown at the 2013 Taiwan Lantern Festival. Each tower is 9.5 meters tall. Its octagonal base is 5.6 meters wide. The towers have strong steel frames and are covered with colorful art glass. The glass was made using many special methods, such as painting, carving, heating, and laser printing. The designs include Taoist gods and Buddhist texts, bringing religion, art, and glasswork together.

Taiwan Panorama
The Taiwan Panorama took three years to complete. It is made of connected painted panels and shows famous places, festivals, and daily life across Taiwan. The painting is 11.7 meters long and 60 centimeters high. It is like a colorful map filled with Taiwan’s beautiful scenery and culture. Visitors can find the Toucheng Ghost Grappling Festival, Miaoli Bombing Dragon Festival, Yanshui Beehive Fireworks Festival, Orchid Island Flying Fish Festival, and many other events. Through this painting, visitors can learn about Taiwan’s geography, natural beauty, traditional festivals, and rich cultural heritage.
